FAQ
WHY SHOULD I HAVE MY YARD TREATED TO CONTROL MOSQUITOES?
Aside from the constant annoyance they bring, mosquitoes in North Carolina are known to carry a number of diseases. According to the North Carolina DHHS, West Nile Virus, Eastern Equine Encephalitis, and La Crosse Encephalitis are among the variety of vector-borne diseases within the state. Our mosquito treatment significantly reduces mosquito activity within the treated area and is a key factor in minimizing exposure to one of the aforementioned mosquito-borne illnesses. This is especially true for individuals who live near swamps. marshes, wetlands or other areas of high mosquito activity.
IS THE MOSQUITO TREATMENT SAFE?
Yes. While direct contact with the treatment mixture can pose some health risks, our licensed professionals are careful to ensure the treatment is applied in a safe and effective manner. They will also take the time to provide adequate guidance regarding post-treatment procedure so you will be sure when your outdoor space is safe for normal activity.
WHAT ARE THE GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR POST-TREATMENT ACTIVITY?
As a general rule, your outdoor space should remain activity-free for no less than 30 minutes post treatment. This includes people, pets and livestock that may venture into the treated area. The goal is to allow the mixture to dry before resuming normal outdoor activity. If after 30 minutes there are still areas where the treatment is seen to be moist or not fully dried, an additional 15-20 minutes should be given to allow the mixture to fully dry.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I HAVE MY YARD TREATED?
In normal North Carolina weather, we recommend having your yard treated for mosquitoes every 18-21 days. During periods of persistent rain fall, the shorter interval would be more advantageous for continuous mosquito prevention.
WILL THIS TREATMENT HARM HONEYBEES?
No. Even though the chemical mixture can pose a threat to Honeybees, our technicians are trained and instructed to remain vigilant and not disrupt the activity of our earth's pollinators. This includes avoiding flowers and flowing plants to which the Honeybees are drawn.
IS THE GNAT TREATMENT EFFECTIVE?
Yes, the gnat treatment is effective. Because gnats are usually found in grass, sand or other areas that are prone to shifting and/or water and wind interference, we recommend treating the infested areas every 18-21 days for continuous coverage.
